Pawankhind (पावनखिंड) Movie Review :

Ratings : ⭐⭐⭐

Almonds Creations’ Pawankhind is historical about the battle of Pawankhind in 1660. The battle of PawanKhind (earlier known as Ghod Khind) and the story of the bravery displayed by Bajiprabhu Deshpande and the Bandal army of 600 against Siddhi Masood and the soldiers of the Adilshahi Sultanate is famous throughout Maharashtra. Result - Successful escape of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from Panhalgad to Vishalgad. But, does Lanjekar manage to bring this important chapter of Marathi history to the screen?

Digpal Lanjekar's first two films in a series of films dedicated to the valor of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Maratha army, after Farzand and Fateshikaast, make a strong comeback in the third film of the writer-director series - Pawankhind. Pawankhind is a complete cinematic experience that is perfect for the big screen. The film is ambitious in trying to explore this story in two and a half hours, but it largely manages to create the right build-up and atmosphere that leads to a spectacular climax. From placing the reason and the characters involved, to the Siege of Panhala by Siddhi Johar, the escape plan and the actual battle, Pawankhand Chronicles, chronologically lays out all its cards in front of you, inspiring a dose of drama. And also comic relief in between. The film does not miss to give due credit to most of the generals who helped Shivaji Maharaj realize the dream of Swarajya.

Chinmay Mandlekar has done a great job as Shivaji Maharaj. Ajay Purkar as Baji Prabhu Deshpande has given a great performance. Sameer Dharmadhikari is impressive as Siddi Johar. Astad Kale is as effective as Siddi Masood. Mrinal Kulkarni has given good support as Shivaji's mother. Digpal Lanjekar's direction is commendable. The handling of the battle scenes in particular is wonderful. The music and background score of Devdutt Manisha Baji is good.

While Windscribe is excellent at storytelling, the technical aspects, though good, could have been better. The background score overpowers the dialogues in some important scenes, and the action choreography fails to make the cut in some scenes. However, all said and done, the entire team has tried their best to make it a big-screen experience.
